Jolly Robin’s Winter Walk at Dunham Massey
19 November, 2023 - 21 January, 2024
When we saw there was a new winter family trail at Dunham Massey National Trust all about a Robin, we had to go. The fact that my daughter is called Robyn totally makes us obsessed with the cute red chested bird.
Dunham Massey is also gorgeous in autumn with their trees laden in orange and red leaves, making it a lovely winter walk location.
Jolly Robin’s Winter Walk, which is on until the 21st of January 2024.
The trail is included in your entry. You can pick up the trail booklet at reception. It’s a simple trail in boards to find around the parkland. The boards have lovely drawings of Jolly robin and a story, so you have to find the boards in the correct order. They are clearly marked on the map inside your trail booklet, so its really easy to follow for young children. Each board has a little activity to try too.
Jolly robin tells you to pull on your coat, embrace the cold, and enjoy the sensory delights of the season. Its a super cute activity to encourage little ones on their walk.
After the trail, we headed into the gardens. Due to the time we visited their Chistmas light trail was all set up. Even though it was daytime and they weren’t turned on, it was really interesting to see the structures around the garden.
Afterwards we went on a search for deers in the deer park but they were all hiding today. There are nice long wide paths in the deep park. Perfect for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
While you’re at Dunham Massey, you can also explore the 17th century house between March and October.
There are two places to rest those tired legs and refuel.
The Stamford Cafe, by the reception, serves light bites, drinks, and snacks in the bright and airy Café.
For a more substantial lunch, head to the Stables Restaurant in the historic buildings adjacent to the main house and overlooking the park.
