Libby’s Sunflower Field Maze
25 August, 2022 - 1 September, 2022
Libby’s Patch in Gawsworth near Macclesfield is set in the heart of the beautiful Cheshire Countryside and home of an 8-acre Sunflower Maze. Run by a local family Dan & Beth Thornicroft and their 3 boys, the sunflower field maze is open until 3rd September but many slots are already booked up.
Local mum Jenny visited with her kids to review.
The site opened up for the first time in August 2021 and has already added a few new features for 2022 including a slushie machine, a new menu of pizzas and a straw bale pyramid.
The maze is pushchair friendly and has a good wide flat path that I was pleasantly surprised was dry even after a night of rainfall.
The Sunflower maze is great for getting some fantastic photos, my girls dressed in their matching denim jackets and summer hats so we could get some nice photos from our visit.
In the maze there is a challenge to find 7 letters which spell out a secret word. You then message the facebook page with the answer to get added to a daily draw to win tickets to their Autumn pumpkin patch. A little slip of paper would be good to keep note of the letters, I just used the note section on my phone to write them down.
We spent an hour wondering around the maze and then went to choose a Sunflower each from the pick your own section which costs just £1 a stem. I then treated the girls to a slushie and a cake from the cute trailer cafe.
Cost: Adults are £6 and children are £3 with the fab bonus that you can return as many times as you like over the summer with out booking. It’s open every day 10- 6pm.
Refreshments Re available including pizzas, hot dog, slushies, cakes, crisps, hot and cold drink. We did take along a picnic but weren’t sure if picnics were allowed so left that in the car, there are some outside chairs under a gazebo but no tables.
One note I would say is that I did drive past the entrance even though I was following sat nav, the turning is a bit hidden so keep an eye out for a bail of hay by the entrance. A big sign would really help drivers.
This family run business creates the opportunity for the whole family to spend quality time together outside, making memories and having fun.
