Scottish Highlands:
You cannot think of natural beauty and ignore the Scottish Highlands. The Scottish Highlands are remote and scenic, with a wildness that touches all hearts. Whether it’s beaches, lochs, or mountains that your family craves, you will find it all in the Scottish Highlands.
Apart from just visiting the Cairngorms (Britain’s largest national park), you can visit Loch Ness and try to sight the fabled monster with the kids, see the Eilean Donan Castle and the great Ben Nevis. If your family are fans of the Harry Potter Series, you can take them on the Jacobite Train (the Hogwarts Express) and cross over the 21-arch Glenfinnan Viaduct. If luxury is something your family wants, you could sail on a yacht cruise around Oban, Loch Linnhe, and Fort William.
Cotswolds:
Entering the Cotswolds is like stepping through a doorway and into a fairy tale. The chocolate box villages, miles of lush, verdant countryside, grand homes, and endless beauty will have you enchanted. Cotswolds is spread over 800 sq. miles and consists of Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, and Gloucestershire. England’s prettiest village – Castle Combe – is also a part of the Cotswolds.
Escaping to Cotswolds and away from the bustle and hustle of large cities is precisely what you may need to unwind, relax, and reconnect with natural beauty. While there isn’t a lot for children to do, there are the gardens of Highgrove House (Prince Charles’ private residence).
Devon:
Devon is often overlooked on people’s list of photography holiday destinations. When you’re travelling with children, there is nothing better than the child-friendly waves at the sandy beaches of Devon or the nature reserves that are excellent for day picnics. Not only is there something for everyone, but Devon is also extremely picturesque and makes for fabulous photographs.
Children can enjoy themselves at Diggerland, Crealy Great Adventure Park, Woodlands Leisure Park, and more. If it rains (as it is prone to in Britain), you can head to the many museums and historic castles to pass the time and click some gorgeous photos.
Dorset:
Dorset has some beautiful old-fashioned, picturesque seaside resorts that offer plenty of entertainment for children. You can take the family to the scenic Isle of Purbeck, paddling at Weymouth, go fossil-gathering at Chesil Beach, and visit the beach at Studland. For additional entertainment, there are also many museums and Monkey World.
The Dorset countryside is sprinkled with beaches, smuggler’s caves and visit Corfe. Famous author Enid Blyton visited Dorset, and the Dorset Castle is said to be the inspiration for Kirrin Castle (as in the books). There are also Bronze Age Burial Mounds to visit and click photos, sculpture galleries, grand arches, coves, and more.
Cornwall:
No UK holiday list is complete without mentioning Cornwall. Cornwall has one of the most impressive coastlines in the UK. It also has family-friendly attractions like Land’s End and gorgeous beaches, St. Michael’s Mount, the Eden Project, and The Minack open-air theatre. Older children can take surfing lessons at Hayle, while younger kids can learn snorkelling and rock pooling in shallower water.
Cornwall is also famous for its pies, pasties, cream teas, and ice cream. Ideally, you should sight-see, surf, and indulge in adventure sports the entire day so you can eat all the yummy food later. Apart from all the adventure and sunshine you can get in Cornwall, you can also get some incredible photographs of the cliffs, sandy beaches, wildflowers, and more.
When you’re in the UK, there is no dearth of all the gorgeous photography destinations you can visit with the family. There are always incredible places to see apart from the towns and cities.
