Wild Bee Forest School run a parent and toddler/pre-schooler session for Headington Quarry Foundation Stage School. This session is open to the public and intended to connect the community with the school. They will start each session in the school’s wild garden and then move to their lovely forest school site which is in the little woodland behind the Holy Trinity churchyard.
Please book in advance using their online booking system to ensure you get a place. Numbers area limited to ensure that everyone gets a good experience, to help plan the resources and activities, and to limit the environmental impact on our forest school sites.
If you book in advance for a full half term, you will get a reduction on the individual session price. Please use the discount code SIBLING30 to book a full half term for a second (or third or fourth) child at the sibling rate.
What? This is a chance to let children play in nature. Every week will be a little different but over the course of our sessions we will have bug hunting, mud kitchen, a rope swing, a hammock, den building, treasure hunts, stories, songs, fire lighting, nature art, clay, dream catchers, elder jewelery, foraging and will encourage and enlarge upon anything else that takes the children’s fancy. We almost always have a campfire and the children will cook their own snack (damper bread) over the fire. They can help to prepare the dough and will learn how to wrap the dough round the end of a stick and bake it over the embers. We also provide a hot drink.
Where? We will start at 9.30 in the wild garden at Headington Quarry Foundation Stage School, 4 Quarry School Place, Oxford, OX3 8LH, United Kingdom. You will be able to enter the garden from a gate next to the canteen (white building up at the top of Trinity Road – set apart from the main school building). I will put up some signs to guide you. At about 9.40 we will head up to the forest school site, which is in the woodland alongside the alleyway which leads from Holy Trinity Church through to Quarry Road. The entrance is a little gate at the back of the churchyard.
When? 9.30 – 11.00, Friday mornings in term time, see here for Oxfordshire term dates. Check the booking page and/or our facebook page for any termtime dates during which we can’t run.
